Service Overview

The SKiN Centre for Dermatology provides the Peterborough, Lindsay and Cobourg area with a comprehensive range of services that cover all aspects of Dermatology – prevention, recognition, and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair and nails.

The centre handles OHIP-covered procedures, non-OHIP covered procedures, and participates in various clinical research trials as well.

Conditions treated range from common skin problems to the unusual and complicated. More common conditions include:

• Skin cancer
• Psoriasis
• Eczema/dermatitis
• Acne
• Rosacea
• Warts
• Moles
• Fungal infections
• Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
• Alopecia

Less common conditions include:

• Lupus of the skin and other autoimmune conditions
• Bullous (blistering) disorders
• Leg ulcers
• Genital dermatology

The modern facility is well-equipped with up-to-date technology such as:

• Narrowband UVB phototherapy unit for psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, pruritus (including a full body unit and a hand/foot unit)
• A 'patch' testing unit for contact dermatitis
• Photodynamic therapy for skin cancer treatment and acne treatment
